Compliance

Why cooling-off ends later than you expected

Business days, the applicable state rule, and a deliberate one-day buffer.

Three reasons the date moves out

  • The period is counted in business days, not calendar days. A contract signed on a Thursday does not clear until the following week.
  • If the client’s state requires longer than the federal three days, the state period applies. California is five business days.
  • We add one extra calendar day as a buffer. Being a day early is a violation; being a day late is not.

You cannot shorten it

"Cooling-off period runs until {date}; work cannot start earlier" is the enforcement. There is no override, including for a client who asks you to start sooner. Their request does not waive the period.
